Programme Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • discuss a movie with the language skills needed

  • have an awareness to appreciate movies with meanings

  • use literary skills to review a movie from different perspectives

  • use the critical thinking skills by analyzing the messages behind the movies

  • have their life skills expanded by understanding the choices made by the movie characters

Programme Description

In each session, students will learn about some big ideas through in-depth guided watching of blockbuster movies that strike a chord in people – Avatar and 3 idiots. With a focus to develop the language skills and literary skills in this programme, the movies will be played in parts and followed up by meaningful discussion and acquisition of world knowledge in the following topics:

Session 1: Exploring environmentalism in the movie world

Session 2: Exploring environmentalism in the modern world

Session 3: Making personal choices in face of conflicts

Session 4: How to pursue excellence in the education system and why

Session 5: How to position yourself when the perfect score is needed

Ms. Lily CHENG

Graduated with first-class honours for both her Bachelor of Arts in English Studies and Bachelor of Education in English Language Education, Ms. Lily Cheng sees the advantages of extensive exposure to authentic and contextualized English, and the precious learning opportunities that come with multimedia texts including songs, movies and YouTube videos.
