Know Your Edge, Own Your Direction — A Strengths-Based Talent Development Programme for High-Potential Young Adults 

知己所長,找到方向——面向高潛力大學生與職場新人的優勢導向天賦發展課程

This programme accepts participants up to the start of the first session.

The workshop is facilitated by HKU MEd Gifted Education and Talent Development students, with supervision from HKU Faculty of Education expert staff, Ms. Katherine Yuen. 

 

Target participants: High-potential secondary school students (aged 15+), university students, and young adults (up to age 25) 

Date and time:   

May 2026: 24, 31
June 2026: 7, 14, 21, 28
Every Sunday | 6 sessions | 2:00–5:00 PM HKT (3 hours/session, 18 hours in total) 

Language of instruction: English, with supplementary materials provided in Chinese. 

Fee: Free of charge  

Mode of instruction: Online interactive sessions via Zoom 

Programme Objectives 

 

1. Identify and reframe high-potential traits (multipotentiality, overexcitability) as developmental resources (Session 1) 

2. Complete VIA Character Strengths assessment and construct a personalised Talent Map (Session 2) 

3. Identify psychosocial barriers — perfectionism and impostor syndrome — and practise evidence-based reframing (Session 3) 

4. Locate self within Subotnik's talent development pathway and Bloom's three developmental stages (Session 4) 

5. Assess domain–person fit via Holland RIASEC and design a 90-day deliberate practice plan (Session 5) 

6. Construct a coherent career narrative and commit to specific next-step actions (Session 6) 

 

Target Participants / Prerequisite 

 

High-potential secondary school students (aged 15+), university students, and young adults (up to age 25) who experience multipotentiality or difficulty identifying a clear talent development direction. Participants should have English proficiency sufficient for programme participation. 

 

Programme Outline 

 

Session 1 (24 May) — Who Am I: High-Potential Traits in Adulthood 

Overexcitability self-assessment (Dabrowski OE framework); multipotentiality mapping; reframing activity. Theory: Silverman asynchronous development, Dabrowski OE, Rysiew multipotentiality. 

 

Session 2 (31 May) — What Are My Strengths: Strengths Identification & Talent Mapping 

VIA Character Strengths online assessment; three-dimensional Talent Map (natural abilities × character strengths × peak experiences); peer strengths identification.  

Theory: Gagné DMGT, VIA, Linley strengths use model. 

 

Session 3 (7 Jun) — What Is Holding Me Back: Perfectionism, Impostor Syndrome &Paradox of Choice 

Perfectionism type identification (adapted Hewitt-Flett MPS); impostor syndrome case analysis; cognitive reframing worksheet.  

Theory: Hewitt & Flett SPP, Clance & Imes impostor syndrome, Subotnik psychosocial barriers. 

 

Session 4 (14 Jun) — How Talent Develops: From Potential to Excellence 

Subotnik Megamodel self-positioning; Bloom three-stage self-assessment; Catalyst Map construction.  

Theory: Subotnik et al. Megamodel, Bloom (1985), Gagné DMGT catalysts. 

 

Session 5 (21 Jun) — How Far Can My Talent Go: Domain Fit & Deliberate Practice Deliberate practice self-audit; Holland RIASEC domain-fit analysis; 90-day deliberate practice planning.  

Theory: Ericsson deliberate practice, Holland RIASEC, Csikszentmihalyi flow. 

 

Session 6 (28 Jun) — Connecting the Dots: Career Narrative & Next Steps 

Six-session integration; career narrative writing (Savickas); SDT motivation audit; PERMA self-assessment; action commitment with accountability partnering.  

Theory: Savickas career construction, McAdams narrative identity, Deci & Ryan SDT, Seligman PERMA. 

 

Programme Instructor   

 

Ms. Kassandra Deng Yifan

Ms. Kassandra Deng Yifan is an MEd candidate in Gifted Education and Talent Development at the University of Hong Kong. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with scholarship) from the University of Melbourne, and has worked as a school counsellor responsible for over 1,500 students at a public primary school in mainland China. She is the co-founder of Talent Unlimited Lab (天賦無限研究所 ), a strengths discovery and talent development platform for high-potential young adults. Her practicum is supervised by Ms. Katherine Yuen of the HKU Faculty of Education.

是次課程由香港大學教育學院研究生教授,並由香港大學教育學院專業導師袁嘉欣女士進行督導。  

 

對象: 具高潛力的中學生( 15 歲以上)、大學生及青年人(至25 歲) 

日期及時間: 5月24日、31日; 6 月7日、14日、21日、28日 (星期日)|共6節 

香港時間下午2:00–5:00 | 每節 3小時 、共18小時 

教學語言:英文為主,提供中文補充材料 

費用:全免

1. 識別並重新定框高潛力特質(多元潛能、超興奮性)為發展資源(第 1 節) 

2. 完成 VIA 品格優勢測評,繪制個人才能地圖(第 2 節) 

3. 識別完美主義與冒名頂替綜合症等心理社會障礙,練習認知重評(第 3 節) 

4. 在 Subotnik 發展路徑與 Bloom 三階段中定位自身(第 4 節) 

5. 用 Holland RIASEC 評估領域適配性,設計 90 天刻意練習計劃(第 5 節) 

6. 建構生涯敘事,制定具體行動承諾(第 6 節)

鄧憶凡女士

鄧憶凡女士(Kassandra)現就讀香港大學教育學院資優教育與才華發展碩士課程。持有墨爾本大學心理學學士學位(獎學金獲得者),曾任內地公立小學學校輔導員(負責 1,500 余名學生)。現為天賦無限研究所聯合創始人,專注為高潛力年輕人提供優勢發現與才能發展服務。實習督導為香港大學教育學院袁老師(Ms. Katherine Yuen)。
