The workshop is facilitated by HKU MEd Gifted Education and Talent Development students, with supervision from HKU Faculty of Education expert staff, Ms. Katherine Yuen.

Every Wednesday and Friday | 8 sessions (2 hours/session, 16 hours in total)

Programme Objectives
1. Understand core positive psychology theories (PERMA model, character strengths, gratitude, resilience, growth mindset).
2. Apply evidence-based strategies to enhance daily flourishing, engagement, and life satisfaction in the university context.
3. Develop simple, sustainable habits that support a vibrant, meaningful, and resilient university experience.
4. Build practical skills to manage academic pressure, strengthen relationships, and discover personal strengths.
Target Participants / Prerequisite
- This programme is designed for undergraduate students from any discipline who are curious about how to live a more fulfilling, engaged, and resilient life during their university years.
- No prior knowledge of psychology is required.
- Level: Higher education (current university students)
- Number of participants: 2–4 (small group to ensure deep interaction and personalised feedback)
- Language of instruction: English (with Putonghua support if needed)
- Motivation: Open to students who want to explore practical, science-based tools to enhance their daily flourishing, manage academic pressure, build better relationships, and discover personal strengths.
Programme Outline
Session 1 – Introduction to PERMA What makes a good life? Children learn the five pillars of well-being (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment) and complete a PERMA wheel self-assessment.
Session 2 – Positive Emotion & Healthy Striving Understanding positive emotions, distinguishing healthy effort from perfectionism, and starting a “3 Good Things” gratitude diary.
Session 3 – Engagement & Character Strengths Discovering “flow” (losing track of time in enjoyable challenges) and identifying personal top character strengths (e.g., curiosity, kindness, creativity).
Session 4 – Relationships & Kindness Why friendships matter, learning active-constructive responding (celebrating others’ good news), and planning a small act of kindness.
Session 5 – Meaning & Accomplishment What gives life meaning? Setting a simple SMART goal and recognising progress over perfection.
Session 6 – PERMA Review & My Well-being Plan Consolidating all five pillars, creating a personal action plan, and celebrating growth.
Session 7 – Resilience & Growth Mindset (optional / added as appropriate) Reframing mistakes as learning opportunities, building emotional resilience.
Session 8 – Looking Forward Sharing take-home well-being toolkit, peer encouragement, and closing ceremony.
Programme Instructor
Ms. Xu Aixuan
Xu Aixuan is currently a student in the MEd Gifted Education and Talent Development programme at the Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Hong Kong. This online enrichment programme is designed and facilitated by her to apply positive psychology in helping university students understand basic theories and practical skills of self-care, and to provide them with actionable techniques for caring for themselves. The programme is supervised by expert faculty members from HKU Education. She is committed to creating a supportive, interactive, and strengths-based learning environment where undergraduates can acquire evidence-based tools to build a more fulfilling and resilient university life.

課程大綱
本課程為一項為期 8 節的網上增潤課程,專為天賦兒童設計,運用正向心理學提升心理 健康。 每節 2 小時,包含互動教學、小組討論及反思活動。
第一節:PERMA 模型入門– 甚麼構成美好生活? 學習幸福五支柱(正向情緒、投入、 人際關係、意義、成就),並完成 PERMA 自評輪。
第二節:正向情緒與健康追求– 辨識正向情緒,區分健康努力與完美主義,開始「三件 好事」感恩日記。
第三節:投入感與性格強項– 探索「心流」(沉浸於喜愛挑戰而忘卻時間),發掘個人 標誌性強項(如好奇心、善良、創造力)。
第四節:人際關係與善意行動– 友誼的重要性,學習「主動建設性回應」,計劃一個小 善舉。
第五節:意義與成就– 甚麼帶來人生意義? 訂立簡單的 SMART 目標,重視進步而非完 美。
第六節:PERMA 回顧與我的幸福計劃– 整合五支柱,制定個人行動計劃,慶祝成長。
第七節:韌性與成長思維– 將錯誤重新定義為學習機會,建立情緒韌性。
第八節:展望未來– 分享可帶回家的幸福工具包,同儕鼓勵,結業儀式。
