Course Objectives

  1. Through activities, students will apply questioning and multi-perspective thinking skills in studying a real-life issue in depth.

  2. Students will be encouraged to stretch beyond their comfort zone and create a unique product in response to the studied issue.

  3. Students will apply research and critical thinking skills in order to work collaboratively and creatively when facing challenges throughout the project.

  4. Students will enhance understanding of own strength and challenges and be able to build a reflective thinking habit.


Course Outline

A high-tech innovative program that creates unique learning experience for students to engage in series of hands-on exploration and collaborative project. The unique combination of Science & Multidisciplinary topics encourages students to imagine and create beyond boundary.   To unleash their creativity and intelligence in solving a real life issue. Important personal qualities, such as critical thinking, questioning skills, as well as self-reflective habits and leadership will be highlighted throughout the program.


Target Participants / Prerequisite

Students should have a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills. Students should also be proficient in English and Chinese.


Course Instructor

Ms. Twiggy CHAN

Ms. Twiggy Chan is currently an independent education consultant, focusing on special education and talent development in Hong Kong. She is now actively involved in special needs teacher training at university. She has obtained Master of Education in Inclusive and Special Education; Master of Social Science in Social Work; Postgraduate Diploma in Education; Bachelor of Science in Sport Science and Leisure Management and Professional development Course for Teachers (Catering for Diverse Learning Needs). She has been teaching in international school, local schools and non-profit organization.

Twiggy is one of the Founding members, Special Interest Group for School Guidance, Life Skills and Career Development, Faculty of Education Centre for Advancement of Inclusive and Special Education, The University of Hong Kong and help to lead workshops or be a speaker for teachers and parents with gifted learners or children with learning difficulties. She also organized events to promote the talents for students with special needs, such as the “Special Innovation House: A Multi-sensory Extravaganza”, Boaz International Education, with more than 200 participants.

Twiggy also specializes in helping students to find their talents and has partnered with universities and schools to conduct leadership training and entrepreneurship training program. Her start-up company, Boaz International Education Institute, has been awarded HSBC Youth Business Award 2016 – Gold Award, HKTDC and HKFYG Entrepreneur Day 2016 – Outstanding Start-up Award, Top 10 SME Customer Service Awards 2016 and Innovative Entrepreneurship Award 2017 by Junior Chamber International Hong Kong. Her start-up story has been featured in various media and has been awarded the Most Social Responsible Corporate Award by Welikehk in 2017.


Ms. Vienne Ng

Ms. Vienne Ng is enthusiastic in learning and teaching languages, and she has years of experiences in teaching students with Special Educational Needs. She is interested in talent development and adept at identifying the needs and strength of students, aged from 4 to 17, to help them use their strength to enhance their soft skills; understand concepts and raise their interest in learning languages through interactive and diversified strategies. Currently, Ms. Vienne has been providing learning support services to students in different primary and secondary schools, and she has also been the trainer to supervise instructors; and being the speaker of different workshops to share and provide trainings for teachers and parents.

陳卓琪女士是在香港特殊教育及資優發展範疇中的一位獨立教育顧問。她積極為不同大學的特殊教育教師提供師資培訓。陳老師已修畢融合及特殊教育碩士、社會工作碩士、教育深造文憑、運動科學及康樂管理理學士學位課程,以及教師專業進修課程(照顧不同學習需要) ──深造班等專業資格。同時,她於國際學校、本地學校及非牟利機構皆有豐富教學經驗。
陳老師亦是「香港大學教育學院融合及特殊教育研究發展中心──學校特殊興趣組指引:生存技能及專業發展」的創會成員;不時籌劃研討會或受邀出席講座,向教師和家長演講有關特殊和資優教育講題。同時,她積極籌辦活動,向大眾推廣有特殊學習需要學生的另類天賦,由博雅思教育中心籌劃、多達200 位參與者的「特殊創意屋:破天荒的多感官體驗」就是其中之一。陳老師擅長協助學生發掘其長處,曾與大學及學校合作舉辦領袖訓練及創業訓練課程。陳老師創辦的初創企業—博雅思教育中心—獲頒2016 年滙豐青年創業大獎、2016 年香港貿發局和香港青年協會合辦的「創業擂台」傑出創業項目大獎、2016 年十大中小企業優質顧客服務大獎及2017年城市青年商會創意創業大賞。陳小姐的創業故事受各大傳媒廣為報導,於2017 年獲WelikeHK頒發「努力有明天 —最具企業責任獎」。
