Students will identify their strengths and weaknesses by perspective-taking and self-reflection through different real life scenarios, and based on their strengths to figure out solutions to solve the social problem.
Students can learn the basic concept of business, from business model, needs analysis, prototype, testing, CANVAS business model analysis to pitching and product development. In the process, students will seek technical supports and advice in business lens, and learn to collaborate with team members who can supplement their limitations.
Through addressing a social problem, students will analyse the needs of the society. Students will update and review their progress through online platform, and will have an online pitch to strengthen their presentation skills.
Students can develop their resilience and adversity coping from problem-solving, prioritization, time-management and reflective skills.

Within the seven sessions of experiential learning programme using a strength-based approach, students can learn to realize their strengths and weakness, collaborate with like-minded peers to develop a start-up of their own to contribute to the society.
Throughout the session, students can learn to transform their knowledge of giftedness and unique strength into a helping business for the society, students are empowered with the opportunity to use a business lens to solve social issues.
Throughout the programme, student are expected to develop their resilience working an entrepreneur mind in overcoming the real life challenges doing a startup project.
Parents and peers of the student are expected to witness their fruitful journey by participating in the pitching process of the final product on the last day of program.
Target Participants / Prerequisite
Our program welcomes twice-exceptional students with gifted and other special needs. Students should be able to express their ideas and an inquisitive mind for social innovation. Students should also be proficient in English and Chinese.
Ms. Twiggy CHAN
Ms. Twiggy Chan is currently an independent education consultant, focusing on special education and talent development in Hong Kong. She is now actively involved in special needs teacher training at university. She has obtained Master of Education in Inclusive and Special Education; Master of Social Science in Social Work; Postgraduate Diploma in Education; Bachelor of Science in Sport Science and Leisure Management and Professional development Course for Teachers (Catering for Diverse Learning Needs). She has been teaching in international school, local schools and non-profit organization.
Twiggy is one of the Founding members, Special Interest Group for School Guidance, Life Skills and Career Development, Faculty of Education Centre for Advancement of Inclusive and Special Education, The University of Hong Kong and help to lead workshops or be a speaker for teachers and parents with gifted learners or children with learning difficulties. She also organized events to promote the talents for students with special needs, such as the “Special Innovation House: A Multi-sensory Extravaganza”, Boaz International Education, with more than 200 participants.
Twiggy also specializes in helping students to find their talents and has partnered with universities and schools to conduct leadership training and entrepreneurship training program. Her start-up company, Boaz International Education Institute, has been awarded HSBC Youth Business Award 2016 – Gold Award, HKTDC and HKFYG Entrepreneur Day 2016 – Outstanding Start-up Award, Top 10 SME Customer Service Awards 2016 and Innovative Entrepreneurship Award 2017 by Junior Chamber International Hong Kong. Her start-up story has been featured in various media and has been awarded the Most Social Responsible Corporate Award by Welikehk in 2017.
Ms. Tiffany CHING
Tiffany is a current HKU student majoring in Information Systems and Computer Science. With much interest in entrepreneurship, she looks into every human need and business opportunity surrounded. Taking a leave year in the middle of her studies, she is now working in the SEN industry, engaging in a social enterprise to understand the urge of their problems and the beauty of social innovation.
