Course Objectives
Healthy parental attachment relationships support the well-being and positive adjustment of children and adolescents to challenges in growing up. There is joy as well as stress in parenting. The experiences are kept as memories in our body and mind and subsequently affect the quality of our parenting. By listening to our body, we can locate where stress is stored and is affecting our overall functioning. By learning how to facilitate our body to self-regulate, we unlock the wisdom of our body to release from stress and to find ways for optimal functioning of attachment.

The program aims at supporting the parents:
  1. To understand how the quality of attachment impacts the development and well-being of their children.
  2. To learn how to cultivate the ingredients for secure parental attachment.
  3. To learn how to handle stress to improve the efficacy in parenting.
  4. To learn how to listen to the body to locate stress and to understand how stress is affecting our thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
  5. To learn how to facilitate the body to self-regulate to undo stress and to enhance resilience.

Course Outline

  1. Learn to cultivate the ingredients for positive parent-child attachment.

  2. Stress management to improve the efficacy in parenting.

  3. Introduce how the brain regulates physiological responses to bring about stress relief.

  4. Learn self-help skills to bring awareness to the body, to acknowledge and accompany the body wisdom in self-regulation to bring about stress relief.

Psychotherapist in private practice 

  • with almost 30 years of experience in individual, marriage and family therapy;

  • adopts and integrates psychodynamic approach, somatic experiencing, sandplay therapy, dream analysis and systemic family approach in doing psychotherapy;

  • works extensively with adults, adolescents and children with developmental trauma, mental and emotional disturbance (depression, anxiety, PTSD), self-esteem issues, sexual trauma, sexual orientation conflict, personality issues, dissociative disorders, relationships conflicts and parenting difficulties.

  • works with families having children with special needs (gifted and talented, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, sensory integration disorder).

Adjunct psychotherapist at Evangel Hospital, provides counselling and psychotherapy to patients and staff

Mr. Paul Chung (SEP, SOMA therapist)
Paul Chung started his full time business and life coach in 2003, with NLP and Enneagram as prime tools. He commits to breakthrough bottle necks encountered in coaching, the most difficult is handling emotions. In 2008, he started the Somatic Experiencing training and is among the first group of Somatic Experiencing Practitioners (SEPs) in Hong Kong. He continues to deepen and integrate his SE learning by assisting SE trainings in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. Besides offering SE cum SOMA sessions to clients, he is sharing this body oriented trauma healing technique with TGZY (Ti Gan Zi Yu) in Hong Kong and China.
