Course Objectives

Discover some of the fascinating concepts of math, including the number system and binary system, Fibonacci numbers and golden ratio. Through close examination of our nature, works of architecture and even famous paintings to unravel the mathematical mysteries that govern them;

Engage in algorithmic and intuitive approaches to solve complex and challenging problems;

Use collaboration and creativity in conjunction with mathematical knowledge to explore and investigate mathematical problems.

For students completed P5 - P6 who are interested in mathematical problem-solving through both knowledge and creativity are welcome.
Course Instructor
Ms Edwina LAM
Ms Edwina Lam has obtained Master of Education in Curriculum Studies (with distinction), Post-graduate Diploma in English Language Teaching, Post-graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Hong Kong, Honors Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. She is also a certified Math Olympiad trainer and obtained the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Young Learners from the University of Cambridge.
Edwina has been working in local and international schools as an English and Mathematics teacher. Currently she is the Subject Head for Research Skills and High Ability Learning in an international school. She oversees the talent development programme for the school and conduct professional development for teachers both locally and overseas in gifted education and talent development. She is one of the founding members of the Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education (CAISE) at the University of Hong Kong since 2012. She has done several sharing sessions regarding gifted education with the MEd students and also a sharing session at the IT in Education Symposium at the University of Hong Kong. She is passionate about advocating for gifted children.
