Course Objectives
 
After the completion upon this programme, participants would be able to:
  1.  Develop an appreciation for literature;

  2. Develop creative thinking skills;

  3. Practice the language skills of listening, reading, speaking, and writing;

  4. Produce creative outputs, e.g. drawings, poems, original stories, etc.;

  5. Develop personal-social competence

 

 

Course Outline

Session 1:

To develop English and creativity skills through the story of The Gruffalo.

 

Session 2:

To develop English and creativity skills through the story of Where the Wild Things are

 

Session 3:

To develop English and creativity skills through the story of Leonardo the Terrible Monster

 

 

Target Participants / Prerequisite

  • Primary 2-3 Students who are interested in English stories. Applicants will be invited to an interview to assess their listening and speaking skills in English.

 

Course Instructor

 

Dr. Serene CHAN

Dr. Serene Chan obtained her PCEd and EdD from the University of Hong Kong. She is also an experienced English teacher and curriculum developer with an MA in TESL. She is interested in the enhancement of creativity and the development of gifted education in students. In addition to teaching experience in Hong Kong, she has taught in the United States, Costa Rica, and Macau.
