Course Objectives
  • Provide students with an introduction to number theory

  • Encourage students to evaluate the different ways to present mathematical arguments.

  • Help students to explore the concept of multiple ways to solve or explain a problem.

Course Outline

An 4-hour course covering the following topics:

  • Fundamentals of Number Theory

  • Introduction to mathematical argument

  • Proof by exhaustion

  • Disproof by counter-example

  • Proof by contradiction

  • Proof by induction

Target Participants / Prerequisite​

S3-S5 students who are interested in Mathematic.

Ms. Jenny Lee

  • MEng. (Hons) Aerospace Engineering

  • MPhil. Engineering Sciences, University of Southampton, U.K.

  • Worked with gifted and talented Hong Kong school students of outstanding STEM aptitudes in an educational NGO.

  • 7+ years of bespoke Physics and Mathematics subject tutoring experience in IDBP, US high school/college admissions tests and UK GCE A-Levels syllabuses.

  • Recipient of the Royal Aeronautical Society Centennial Scholarship (Individual Awards, U.K.) in November 2011.
