Course Objectives

Upon completion of the program, students are able to:

  •  Have the opportunity of communicating their interest, knowledge, creative ideas about transport;

  •  Have their interest, knowledge, and creative ideas affirmed, improved and further extended through the interaction with peers and experts;

  •  Learn from the experience of adult experts in transport, and be stimulated to think more deeply about transport through learning interesting story cases and problems that the experts have come across;

  • Begin to think more about what the interest can have meaning to their own life and career development.

  • Acquire more knowledge about realistic operation and challenges in major transport services through field visits, and appreciate their connection to subject discipline knowledge and creative ideas.

  • Be motivated to identify problems and possible innovations in transport for society, and to carry out useful informational, conceptual and practical studies about the topics.


Course Outline

Session 1  : Introduction of basic planning theories & core concepts; Introduction of past planning projects in Hong Kong and around the world; and Introduction of basic transport engineering concepts

Session 2 & 3 : Introduction of modeling, network coding & concept of generalized cost

Session 4  : Municipal planning of railways – with support of real cases and work experience in metropolitans; Role of consultancy and various stake holders; This session will be taught by an ex-director of a transport planning consultancy company.

Session 5 : Experience working in Germany bus operator vis-à-vis experience in HK 

Session 6 : How can the current public transport in HK be better? How the public can make a positive and substantial contribution?


Session 7 : How to achieve integrated land-use and transport planning, with possible case study options?

How to cater for future population growth in Hong Kong in general? Any interesting/ meaningful planning issue that warrants our attention?

Session 8: Students share their work product; Career and study exploration

Target Participants / Prerequisite
Young transport enthusiasts with sustained interest in transport, and also with specific interest in thinking about transport planning and sustainable transport. 
Please write about 100-200 words to describe your interest in this area of transport and city planning, including what you have done in this relevant area so far and why do you want to join this programme. Please also submit any work of yours in this area (e.g. you may have created a city or a bus company by your own imagination or study, or made some relevant drawings, models or design). You can submit several photos of your activities or products to let us understand you more.

Course Instructor

Dr. KI Wing Wah

Ki is an honorary associate professor of Faculty of Education, HKU. He had over 30 years of teacher training and research experience on learning, thinking and moral development in various disciplines including mathematics, computer technologies, liberal studies, languages, about learners of diverse abilities ranging from students with special needs to exceptional talents.


Mr. Tonny CHUNG 

Tonny is an international multi-disciplinary consultant with over 27 years of experience in the region, specializing in public transport planning (including railway, station, bus and pedestrian planning).  Since the early 1990’s, he has been a founding and leading member of both the Transport Planning Team and the Business/Market/Social Research Team in MVA, the largest consultancy in transport planning in Asia.  He has worked in a number of countries in Asia including China, Vietnam, Singapore and Australia.


Mr. Yutin KI 

Yutin had been a transport planner, involved in a number of large scale planning projects in Pearl River Delta region and Hong Kong. Recent years, he becomes a teacher, teaching geography and liberal studies teachers in secondary schools of different banding, teaching students with diverse ability levels. He has also been head of Career & Guidance in a secondary school. He has supervised students winning the champion of an open competition in 2016 held by CILTHK on sustainable planning.

Medium of Instruction
本課程培育對交通及城市規劃有濃厚興趣的少年,讓他們的天賦得以發揮,進一步推動他們的學 習和個人成長。包括:
  1. 參加者有機會就其關於交通及城市規劃的興趣、知識和創意想法進行交流
  2. 透過與其他愛好者及專業人士的互動,參加者能夠進一步證實、改進及拓展其關於交通及 城市規劃的興趣、知識和創意想法。
  3. 參加者可以從交通及城市規劃界專業人士的經驗中學習,透過專業人士分享他們在實際工 作中遇到的案例及難題,可以激發參加者更深入地思考與交通規劃有關的問題。
  4. 參加者可以思考他們的興趣對於他們未來的人生和職業發展有什麼意義。
  5. 通過實地考察,參加者能夠進一步了解主要公共交通服務及城市規劃在實際操作層面的知 識,以及提供公共交通及城市規劃面臨的挑戰,並懂得交通與其他相關學科知識和創意想 法的關聯。
  6. 這個項目會鼓勵參加者去嘗試發現現實社會中有關交通及城市規劃的問題和可能的創新做 法,並對有關議題進行有效的信息、概念和實踐研究。


第一節: 基本規劃概念導論; 回顧香港及世界各地的主要規劃項目; 交通工程概念導論;

第二、三節: 交通預測模型運算及相關的重要概念;

第四節: 分享大城市軌道規劃的專業知識,並結合曾主理的大城市項目例子,讓同學明白當中的過程;了解持份者和顧問公司的角色。本節由交通規劃顧問公司前技術總監教授;

第五節: 由現任德國的巴士公司管理層人員分享德國與香港管理公共交通的運作;


第七節: 以實例切入,探討如何實現土地綜合利用和運輸規劃;​規劃以迎合香港未來人口的增長;其他值得我們關注的有趣/有意義的規劃問題;

第八節: 同學的作品分享;有關升學及就業分享。

  • 年輕交通愛好者,對交通有著持續的興趣,並對於思考交通規劃和可持續交通的問題有濃厚的興趣。

祁博士是香港大學教育學院名譽副教授。他在數學,電腦技術,通識教育,語言等多個學科範疇, 就其中的學習,思考和德育發展方面的問題,有超過 30 年的教師培訓和研究經驗, 涉及的不同能 力和特徵的學習者。



鍾先生擁有超過 30 年於國際規劃經驗:規劃設計遍佈東南亞大城市,包括中國、越南、新加玻和 澳洲等。他的專長是公共交通規劃(尤其是鐵路,巴士及行人通道規劃)。自九十年代,鍾先生已 是跨國顧問公司 MVA(亦是全亞洲最大的交通規劃顧問公司)的商業/市場/社會研究部的創辦人 及領導層之一。



祁先生曾於跨國顧問公司 MVA 參與交通規劃的工作,項目包括珠江三角洲及香港的大型基建項目 及公共交通的前期規劃。數年前,他轉當中學的地理及通識科教師,並具備教授不同能力的學生, 包括特殊需要的學生的經驗。他亦曾任升學及就業輔導主任及通識科副科主任。此外,去年更帶領 高中學生參與香港運輸物流學會有關可持續發展的公開徵文比賽奪冠。他亦是香港交通教育學會 創會主席。
